‘For everything (Turn, turn, turn) There is a season (Turn, turn, turn) And a time to every purpose Under heaven… A time to be born, a time to die A time to plant, a time to reap…’ There’s a whole series of blog posts to be written on the music on restaurants, and the way Read More
Souvlike joins Maria’s and Hellenic Eatery in serving up a good value menu. The success of street food stars Meat & Greek– always one of the busiest queues at any street food event since they started up almost five years ago- now means you can’t move for decent Greek food in Cardiff. We are not Read More
Right, let’s get the name out of the way first. It’s Welsh. ‘Bwyd’ is food, and rhymes with ‘fluid’. Visually it’s meant to pun on ‘beautiful’ but you can see the problem, can’t you? It might work as a visual pun but not when spoken out loud; a word which tries to pun in two Read More
If you’re not already sick of reading about The Heathcock, you soon will be: every restaurant blogger worth their salt (and a few who aren’t, besides) will be queuing up to tell you just how good it is. This is the fourth side of a square which elevates eating out in Cardiff to something more Read More
Not long ago, I mentioned on Twitter that I was going to break with tradition: that I was, untypically, thinking of sharpening my knife for a deliberately harsh critique of a truly abysmal meal at a Cardiff bar. The Smoke Haus. Surely it couldn’t be as bad as the last time I ate alleged ‘barbecue’ in the city centre? Could lightning strike twice in the same postcode? (NB I haven’t checked this bit- don’t bother correcting me). To whit: could The Smoke Haus serve ‘barbecue’ as bad, as scrotum-shrinkingly awful, as the meal Read More
This blog is a very simple thing.
I won’t try to sell you any hand lotion, exercise programmes, coffee syrups or Patagonian nose flutes. You won’t find tips on dating, ‘wellness’ or yoga mats.
I write because I love it (and food, as indicated by my increasing girth). Greed happens to be my Deadly Sin of choice, but at least it is never shy of providing me with subject matter.
A simple thing, then: all you get is me wittering on semi-coherently about places I’ve eaten at; hence a ‘restaurant blog’ rather than a ‘food blog’, although there are a few recipes scattered throughout.
From mezze to Michelin ‘fine dining’ and all points in between.
